The NEW Spode Judaica Rectangular Challah Tray with wooden insert is an elegantly designed serving tray to be used on the Sabbath to serve the braided Challah bread. The wooden insert is a fitted cutting board that sits inside the frame of the tray to avoid cutting or scratching the tray itself. The design on the ceramic Challah tray is based on historic Judaic manuscripts from the 1880’s, influenced by early ceramic tile motifs. The piece features the traditional Judaic colors of blue and white in a transferware design style characteristic of Spode. The dominant motif consists of stylized flowers and vines, interwoven amongst the straight-edged Star of David. Made of Spode imperialware, high quality earthenware, the ceramic Challah tray is dishwasher and microwave safe. The insert is made of wood and handwashing is recommended.
The blue and white color references both the colors of the flag of Israel and the signature Spode transferware technique famous in the ceramic industry since the 18th century.
