• Emperor Qianlong was known as a great collector of art and antiquities and often applied seals to works of art which he reviewed.
• The seals of ‘His Majesty at Seventy’ and ‘His Majesty at Eighty’ are intricately carved in jade and feature a pair of addorsed dragons with inscriptions relating to his genuine care and concern for his people and his gratitude for a long life.
• Emblazoned on the sides of the body of the pewter teapot are characters derived from the two seals. The handles of the wooden tray are decorated with foliage motif from the wooden box where the seals are kept.
